60 Heads of State at the Paris Peace Forum

Today 60 Heads of State at the Paris Peace Forum, a global platform for governance projects spearheaded by President Emmanuel Macron. The first ever edition will take place this 11-13 of November with over 70 heads of state present to discuss and debate global governance.

This international meeting is to become an annual event promoting governance solutions in five key areas: peace and security, environment, development, new technologies, and inclusive economy.

For the inauguration of this first edition, Emmanuel Macron has invited Antonio Guterres, UN Secretary General, to mediate the debate by his side at the Grande Halle de La Villette in Paris on November 11, before an assembly of heads of state and key stakeholders in global governance.

Inspired by the COP21 model, the Paris Peace Forum is a symposium for discussion and debate, but also a space for showcasing innovative projects from across the globe led by various stakeholders in governance, including international organisations, NGOs, think tanks, universities, companies and individuals, with a special emphasis on civil society initiatives.

The Forum’s rich programme also includes over 60 panels and roundtables on topics pertaining to global governance. Several Affiliate Professors will be representing Sciences Po in these debates, including Laurence Tubiana, who will be a key speaker in the Agora debate on climate change, Enrico Letta, Dean of the Paris School of International Affairs and Former Prime Minister of Italy, who will take part in the panel on immigration, as well as Miguel Moratinos and Bruno Stagno Ugarte, amongst others. Enrico Letta will also be moderating the great debate between heads of state on Sunday.
